In order to face the crisis that has been reducing the price of milk in the domestic market, the Union of the Dairy Industry of RS (Sindilat) has asked the Minister of Agriculture, Blairo Maggi, to adopt the Prize for Product Flow (PEP) for milk in powder. The claim was filed on Thursday (08) by Sindilat’s vice president, Caio Vianna, in the hands of Maggi, during Expodireto Cotrijal, in No-Me-Toque (RS).
According to Vianna, the tool allows the government to withdraw expressive lots of milk with investment well below other modalities. This is because in the PEP the government only subsidizes cargo freight, which makes it competitive without the need to realize the integral acquisition of the product.
Sindilat’s office requests PEP to 50 thousand tons with the prize of R $ 2 thousand per ton. The objective is to ensure that Brazilian companies and cooperatives are able to market their products in equal conditions and competitiveness in relation to cargo coming from other Mercosur countries where production costs are lower.
With this, it is expected to ensure price and income and reach the value of R $ 13.94 per kilogram of milk powder established by Resolution No. 80 of 11/13/2017 of the National Secretariat for Food and Nutrition Security.
