The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, accompanied by ministers, announced on Wednesday (14), in Ribeirão Preto (SP), the regulatory decree of the RenovaBio. Temer made the announcement during the Sugarcane, Sugar and Ethanol 2018/19 Opening Event organized by Santander and DATAGRO Consultoria.
The regulation of the RenovaBio comes in the wake of the approval of law 13,576 in the House of Representatives and the Federal Senate at the end of 2017, and its sanction by President Temer last December 26 of last year.
RenovaBio is a program that aims to establish a long-term goal for the production of biofuels, including ethanol, biodiesel, biogas, bio-methane and bio-kerosene, for the first time in the 43-year history of ethanol development in Brazil. reference.
At the same time, RenovaBio will induce efficiency gains in the production and use of biofuels, as well as recognizing the ability of each biofuel to contribute to the achievement of the decarbonization target.
This goal of decarbonization will be defined in the form of the regulation established in the decree President Temer announced on Wednesday (14). Representatives from the entire production and marketing chain of biofuels present at the event hailed and recognized the great advancement promoted in the management of the Temer government on this issue.
